Official Violent Crime Rate has decreased since the early 1990s

The Violent Crime Index includes the offenses of murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault "known to the police" and reported to the FBI by U.S. law-enforcement agencies using the Uniform Crime Report (UCR).
